Doctoral Researcher in Digital Health

Hello, thanks so much for stopping by! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Iโ€™m a PhD candidate in Digital Health at the Technical University in Delft. Iโ€™m also a member of the WHO Young Researchers Forum and WHO Europeโ€™s Youth4Health network, where I lead initiatives on youth engagement in digital health. Previously, I studied neuroscience, public health, and human rights at University College London, Yale University, Johns Hopkins University, and Georgetown University. I am fortunate to have my PhD work supported through the โ€˜High Tech for a Sustainable Futureโ€™ capacity building programme of the 4TU Federation in the Netherlands.

In my community-based participatory research, I currently focus on co-designing AI-powered digital precision health tools with diverse adolescents and young adults. ๐Ÿ“ฑโŒš๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿง’๐Ÿง’๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿง’๐Ÿฟ

Why adolescent digital health? Adolescents, who are digital natives, establish lifestyle habits and make decisions that go on to shape lifelong health. In this critical period of development, health behaviour change interventions (such as health chatbots and mobile apps) can importantly prevent or reduce risk factors for chronic conditions across the lifespan. Chronic diseases like cancer, stroke, and depression together account for over 70% of deaths globally and are a significant burden on health systems, well-being, and productivity.

My participatory research with adolescents focuses specifically on co-designing adaptive digital health interventions โ€” personalized health technology that leverages AI such as large language models (LLMs), to adjust to adolescentโ€™s states and contexts in real-time and continuously deliver precise and engaging behaviour change strategies.

As AI also carries significant risks, I'm particularly focused on co-designing safe and equitable digital health tools with underserved populations. Further, my work emphasizes community-based collaborations, by engaging schools and social organizations to support their goals.

Previously, I consulted tech startups on how to tailor their services to the needs of healthcare systems. I also worked briefly in public health policy and academic publishing.

Iโ€™m always keen on new collaborations with diverse stakeholders, so please donโ€™t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for visiting my website ๐Ÿ˜Š
